My sister always used to ask me if I watched the dog whisperer and it totally annoyed me. I thought it was one of those "out there" shows like a doggie psychiatrist or something. I had no desire to ever see an episode. Then one day we caught it at the mother in law's place and were mesmerized. This guy is really good. No hooey, just smart people training. His philosophy is simple: exercise, discipline, affection. Seems Americans are great at affection and nothing else. Probably if we all got off our asses and exercised our dogs like he says we should, we wouldn't all be fat and our dogs would be happier. :)

We've tried some of his techniques on Ripley. Not consistently enough to make anything stick, but they do work. We have until March 1 to try to get some kind of control over her so that we don't have to find her a new home when the baby comes. I know you guys mostly see her when she's jumping up and down or licking your head or giving you the crazy pony, but she really is so sweet when she is calm. We love the little bean, we want to keep our family together.

Anyway, we're on a mission to try to undo all the wrongs we've done with our first two kids so that our third kid can become a happy part of the Cheney household.
